The Meals on Wheels program in Pincher Creek is a volunteer-based community service run as a cooperative effort among various partners. It is available to individuals who are aged, ill, handicapped, convalescent, or who lack the strength or motivation to prepare adequate meals.
The purpose of the program is to improve the nutritional status of the client, improvement in their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing which enables them to remain in their own homes.
Meals on Wheels is available to clients either on a short-term or a long-term basis. For individuals convalescing from surgery, or illness, the service will provide the meals needed to help them regain strength at home. Meals on Wheels is a service
that helps the individual remain independent.
The Partners
Crestview Lodge – the Crestview Lodge Kitchen provides a nutritious meal each weekday at noon (Monday – Friday), including holidays falling on a weekday.
Clients – are billed directly by Crestview Lodge and it is their responsibility to pay Crestview Lodge.
Volunteer Drivers – pick-up meals from Crestview Lodge at 12:20 pm and deliver them to MOW clients. Service Clubs, Church Groups and Individual Volunteers make up the Volunteer Driver group and a Volunteer Coordinator is in charge of working with these groups to ensure scheduled delivery of the meals.
Meals
Nutritional meals are prepared in the commercial kitchen of Crestview Lodge. The volunteer drivers pick up the meals to deliver them to clients at 12:20 pm. Some clients find the quantity adequate for two meals. Clients may use the service Monday – Friday five days a week or less frequently if they choose. The service exists for the benefit of the client, and it is the client who decides when and how often to access it.

How to Arrange for Meals
Call Crestview Lodge (403-627-3833) and arrange to meet with the Meals on Wheels Coordinator to fill out the application documents. Meals can be provided as soon as the documents are completed, or to start on an arranged date.
If a meal is to be cancelled for some reason the client, or someone, MUST call the Kitchen 24 hours in advance. If a meal has been prepared for a client and has been delivered, then the client is responsible for paying for that meal. To make any changes to your meals or cancel a meal, call Crestview Lodge Kitchen at 403-627- 3833, ext. 4, at least 24 hours in advance.
Meals will not be left by the Volunteer drivers if clients are not at home to receive them. Health regulations require that meals be refrigerated and consumed within a specific time frame. If you are not at home we cannot guarantee the safety of the meal, and we do not want clients to get sick.
